I receieved a check today in the mail from:

Department of the treasury
Financial Management Service
Regional Finance Center
PO BOX 34668
Kansas City, MO 64116

The only thing in the envelope is a check for $5.00 made out to me.

Also I see a pending direct deposit in the amount of $5.00 from the Dept of Agriculture today (same people that give my paycheck. I work for the govt.)

The thing is, I was supposed to receive a bonus this month sometime but it was supposed to be quadruple digits.

I hope they didn't screw up my bonus 🙁

But the check has got me curious


Update: Turns out they screwed up my direct deposit from over 4 months ago. They were supposed to deposit $5 into another account but they had the routing number wrong so the money disappeared. I didn't notice this till after 2 paychecks had been processed (2 $5 deposits missing)
One was direct deposited in my primary account and the other was mailed to me. Hence the word salary on my check 😀

Case closed! DUN DUN DUN
 
I probably do more work than all of you combined 😀 And get paid less. It's all about serving the American People 🙂


If you make a mistake on your federal income tax return, is this how they send you the difference? It's a plain yellow small envelope with just the check inside.
