WTF! Is there not a Geforce card with HDTV dongle/cable??

ive done too much searching to find out no AGP high performance geforce card includes any kind of hdtv dongle or cable.

i know plenty of people like myself that wants to use the gf's full potential on a widescreen.

all i see is ATI cards with hdtv dongles and cables. Why no GFs?

damn, all i want is to play games and intarnet on my fuggin widescreen.

3 options.

1. Sue Nvidia for making your life miserable. (plays violin)
2. Wait for them to come out with the dongle. ( After all, Nvidia only just released the WHQL driver that adds support for HDTV so the dongle can't be far behind)
3. Sell your nvidia card and buy a ATI card.

I don't see any other options here.

HDMI actually, but the dvi/hdmi cables are damn near $100 for a few feet!

ridiculous

looks like imma have to wait or go with ati.
sheesh

Leadtek MyVivo 5950 ultra has YPbPr, Personal Cinema 5700 has YPbPr output, some 6600 cards have YPbPr.

Get a trancoder and most any Nvidia card will support YPbPr. Its not like you have no options.

cheap dvi hdmi

its only 100 bucks from monster, should be much cheaper than that.

Use the hdmi/dvi port whenever you can. These are like lcd monitors, you would never use the vga port if you can use the dvi port.

Transcoders blow, you will lose resolution and fine detail. Most are designed to be used up to a 640x480 resolution only.

Head over to avsforum once u get the cable and look up the timings you need for your tv.
Good luck.

They don don't "blow", if you need YPbPr, its definately an option. Buy one thats supports higher resolution, who cares what "most" support if products are available that support the higher resolution you need?

Of course, a $100 transcoder vs $100 for HDMI. I'd go with HDMI.

I don't think we're going to see any 6800 series cards with HDTV dongles (I'm in the same boat as you, and I've looked everywhere). But if you can settle for a 6600 GT, eVGA is supposed to release an AGP version with an HDTV dongle some time soon. I also think there's a chance that Chaintech, Leadtek, Albatron, Aopen, and Gigabyte might as well since they have already released PCIe cards with HDTV dongles. Currently, only PCIe 6600 GT's and nVIDIA's Personal Cinema Geforce FX 5700's come with dongles. Good luck finding the Leadtek Winfast A380 5950 Ultra. I don't know if I'd bother with a transcoder. You'll have to use Powerstrip, and you run the risk of ruining your HDTV if you don't set the timings correctly.

im sorry, transcoders do blow. I speak from experience, had to use one for quite a while.
Im sorry if you only have component, i guess the dongle is a reasonable enuff option, but i would never recommend a transcoder.

no one pays 100 for hdmi, unless yer on crack.
please see the link above for 29 dollar hdmi -> dvi cables.

I dunno why you guys are so infatuated with the dongle.

You are convereting dgital signal from yer video card to a tv out chip which convets that to an anlog y/pr/pb signal, sent over an anlog cable then once its in yer tv, convereted back to a digital signal (in the case with plasma, dlp, lcd and lcos).

That last step alone can take a huge hit in video quality, alot of the new fixed panel tvs, like plasma and especially dlp, likes to be fed digitally, hdmi or dvi. The built in video processors in the tv can soften and degrade the analog signal. Why not feed it what it wants and skip all the comversions?

If you spend some time with the hdmi/dvi link, it will yield a substantially better picture. Not to mention it is cheap and readily available in all video cards.

because not everyone has a display that takes DVI. There are still many hdtv sets that only have component inputs.

op has a hdmi port. foolish to use a dongle, imho.

if you have component only, yes dongle is the best option.
Very few sets now have only component. Most have a dig input and many of the older sets have rgbh+v, which is the same as vga.
