Sony says "add your PS2 to the DMZ or forward the ports" and completely forgot that you need to know WTF your PS2's IP address *IS* to do that. I have 20 entries in my DHCP leases, and no clue which address belongs to what.

Because my router isn't a Playskool My First Router and doesn't delete leases until they havn't been used for a month.

match up the mac address to the mac address on the network adapter.

Sony doesn't tell you the mac address on the PSTwo (that I've found, anyway)

Sony PS2

1. Load the Start-up CD in your PS2.
2. Make sure you have the network cable disconnected.
3. Walk through the Start-Up CD until it starts testing your connection. Since we disconnected the network cable the test will fail.
4. You can now press the select button which will display the MAC.
5. The 12-digit number is the MAC address of your PS2, write it down so that you can use it later.

That same screen gives you the IP address - IF you're connected. Strange that that's not documented ANYWHERE.

You can, but that'd utterly defeat the purpose of having DHCP. DHCP > You.

Yes but you CAN renew/reset your DHCP server correct? If you can't then it IS a playskool my first router....

That doesn't matter -- you should still be able to view active connections and refresh and see which one pops back up.

By reading the thread so far, it sure seems like the "Playskool My First Router " is the only solution for you.

Send continuous pings to all live connections. Disconnect your PS2. Was it that hard?

you can't find it at the startup menu somewhere on the PS2?

I know if dont put a cd in the XBOX when you boot up, then go to the settings menu it is pretty easy to find your IP. I have never checked with the PS2 however.
