That's because a large majority of this is caused by the GPUs, not the PSUs. Which means, RMAing the PSU will not resolve the issue.

Well is it the GPU itself whining, or the GPU causing the PSU to whine?

That's what is hard to nail down so far. In some cases, the sound does indeed seem to come from the PSU itself. However, there is no clear solution. Some people RMA the PSU and the problem is still present. Others, RMA the card and the problem goes away.

The 1 constant I am seeing is that it only seems to be the 2** Nvidia cards and the 48** ATI cards. No other combination of cards causes this behavior. And, every case I have seen so far with the customer RMAing the GPU, the problem goes away. In the cases of PSU RMAs, it's a 50/50 shot.

Regardless, as stated several times for the OP, we'll happily RMA the PSU and hopefully this will resolve the issue.

The noise is clearly coming from the PSU, but like you said....I think it is caused by teh GTX 260. This noise was never present with my 8800gt. I plan on stepping up to a newer card from EVGA around christmas so I will just hold out. It seems this doesn't affect the unit, but is rather annoying. If it continues with the new card I will RMA the PSU. I don't want to spend money and be without a comp only to get another psu that makes noise just b/c it doesn't like the video card

Ok Yoda, I agree that unless PC Power and Cooling, Antec and Corsair release RMA rates versus units sold, that saying that PC P&C and Antec have the same failure rate as Corsiar is unprovable. Yes I also agree with you that my original quote was worded badly, and partially implies that the chance of getting a defective PC P&C or Antec are exactly the same as the chance of getting a defective Antec.

However, if you would have read my last response to you instead of getting so worked up, you would see that despite what you thought I meant in my original post, I was merely saying that it is possible to get a deffective unit from any manufacturer, even those with quality units such as PC Power and Cooling, Corsair and Antec.

Let me rephrase the quote in contention then. "Since many of the PC P&C and Antec PSUs are built by Seasonic, just like the Corsair TX650...you have a chance of running into the same problem"

BTW I didn't say you mentioned PC P&C, although you did in a roundabout way mention both them and Antec by quoting me. Not to mention the only time I ever see you pop up on a forum that isn't Politics or Off Topic anymore is when PC P&C's name is mentioned.

I agree with you that PC Power and Cooling make excellent power supplies, but I am not going to get into a mud flinging match with you about them..it isn't worth it. If we can discuss the matter without insults and calling each other "stoopid"(sic.) then fine, but if we are going to get worked up over this and piss each other off then there is no point in discussing anything.

Again you just don`t get it....
IMy original comment had NOTHING to do with PC Power & Cooling products!!
It had to do with your inane statement!

I was never looking for a pissing contest but you assumed I was....
Please don`t do that!!
Thank You!!

Fair enough, I have retracted/revised my original statement. Point of contention is removed.

I came across a whining system once and tried three different PSUs from different brands. The PSUs -were- whining, and the only thing that changed between the PSUs was the intensity of the whine. When moved to a different system, the whine stopped. So it led me to believe that some component was interacting with the PSU causing the whine. Never found out what tho.

A majority of PSUs are made in China.....the ones that aren't, are made in Taiwan.

Interestingly, aren't those the cards with digital VRMs?
