Ya, I was going to run some Aux up to the middle console so I could put a mp3 player there but that didn't pan out. Honestly though, would you really want a HU with front aux? ...fugly

My parent's Mitsi Montero has one.

b/c they make the HU look like crap...

Yep, function follows form at ATOT these days. I guess that's why Macs still have a few consumers, too.

How didn't it pan out? I've done this (center console to underneath the dash on the left of the wheel) on my old car for foglamps, kind of a pain but the finished product is worth it. You could also run them to the glovebox.

i found it hard to get front AUX wiht a detachable face. So i settled for one that cannot be removed. I used the front AUX for my ipod.

 Obviously that isn't the sole reason they're not on the HUs anymore. Did I need to put "IMO" to make it clear it was my damn opinion? Id say you were ornery, but somehow, I already know you'd agree. ;)

Why can't you just use an extender cable? Something like a female to male rca/mini cable?

If you're buying a CD-MP3 HU, you don't really need the AUX input since MP3 CDs hold quite a bit already.

Surely they could put some form of cover over the AUX in, and that would mean that for those who don't use it, there is no style issue, and for those who do want it, it's there.
Maybe demand for aux in isn't very high?

Good call Luke. They could use a blue LED to fill the hole, and the things would fly off the shelves!

Talk about expensive, I had to spend $50 for my pioneer dehp9300 headunit to get aux input for my ipod and preserve my CD changer connection (IP-Bus)
