WTF is going on?

My XP Pro computer boots up goes "to begin, click your user name" screen, flashes the wall paper, says it is saving settings and goes back to the Welcome screen.
I tried using Safe Mode and the Last Known Good Configuration and none of these allowed me to get around this.

I keep the virus definitions updated and had run a scan within 12 hours of this happening.

Anyone have an idea wtf is going on?

Thanks

Siddhartha

Try logging in as Administrator, then run a full virus scan and/or system restore:

press CTRL + ALT + DEL twice at the Welcome Screen and input your Administrator password in the classic logon window that appears

The same thing happened.

Corrupt profile? Create a new user and see if it works.

Virus? Spyware? Malfunctioning startup program?

How do I creat a new user?

I had updated my virus definitions and ran a scan less than 12 hours before this happened.
