WTF is going on with my computer??

Hey guys,
Did a virus scan with AVG on my windows 7, found a number of viruses and Trojans. It asked me to restart so I did, and now the computer keeps crashing after the Windows loading logo. Pressing F8 to get into safe mode usually works, but now it just crashes my computer and restarts. I tried resetting BIOS back to original settings....nothing.
I plugged in my iPhone to charge and somehow how this allowed me to half load safe mode before crashing again....sigh.
I've tried startup repair but it says the errors can not be automatically fixed... ffs

Can someone tell me what's going on??
I've got a windows 7 disk. Is it possible to reinstall windows over the top of the existing one without deleting my files? I have 1TB worth of stuff.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
 
Best bet would be to pull the hardrive, plug it into a working computer and copy the data off that you need. That way you know its safe. Then do a fresh reinstall.
 
SmackAHobo, if you can get to Safe mode try logging on to a different user account. If you don't have it, add a new user account and logon to that after a reboot to normal mode. See if you could boot to Windows completely.

If you can get to desktop, try downloading and running Microsoft Security Essentials.
