WTF is going on here?

OK so i just bought a new x800 pro (Refurb) from ati and installed it in my computer ..... so I plug it in, play CS for a little while, maybe an hour, and then I get crazy weird graphics on my screen - such as the guns are all sparkly and shiny, when someone killes somneone and you get the notice in the top right of your screen is just one big orange blur, and then when i minimize the game my windows and whatnot are all weird green colors and a lot of stuff is just plain blurred out with red and green colors. I thought it may be a heat issue (my cpu is running at 51c at full load, and i dont know about the video card but I took off the side of the case to let it have all the air it wants and it still does it. Would anyone have any suggestions as to what may be causing it? It would seem like a heat issue because after i stop playing for about 5 mins, all my windows and whatnot go back to normal.

Specs: skt 754 AMD 3400+
asus k8v se deluxe
1 gig kingston ram
x800 pro

Linking skills need work 😉

That card is probably melting or something. Or the voltages must be going haywire to get artifacts like that. Is the fan even running?

Since temps are fine, please check your voltages. Make sure they are not jumping around all over the place. What PSU do you have?

-Kevin

Antec True Power 400+ watt ( i cant remember the exact one but its over 400).

+12V @ 11.968
+5V @ 5.026
+3.3V @ 3.312
VCore 1.47

Under heavy load they all fluctuate by NO MORE than .1 which is normal

Isolate your variable to make sure:
Put the card in a different system and test. Im sure u have something u can put it in or a friend that isnt paranoid about u opening his case to help you out.

But yea, usually u see little speckles on the screen when the core begins to overheat. You on the other hand... well... how did u get a kill again? heh

It also could be the motherboard messing w/ the voltages. Maybe a capacitator or something shorted out on the board. First thing first though, isolate that card then report back to us.

-Oh and pray its the card and not something else because ati is very good about rmas and would be the cheapest fix.
