That's a good looking phone. The Strat sunburst is my favorite guitar finish.

Getting paid? How is this different from any other of the millions of celebrities getting paid zillions of dollars to endorse products?

Anyone else momentarily read the thread title as Eric Cartman?

That would be a funny commercial.

Isn't he selling out regardless of the price he was paid?

That said, it's not a distasteful commercial or anything, I don't see the problem.

Unless he is giving his music away for free, I don't really see how making commercials is anything news worthy.

He may be preparing for a album release, tour or both.

Usually, when you haven't heard from an actor or artist for a while and then they start popping up on talk shows and advertisements, they're typically promoting a new project.

not only is he promoting a new album, it seems, but you guys do know he founded a rehab center years ago? he often auctions off his guitars and other memorabilia to support it.

Uhh, Clapton selling out? Then I guess Bob Dylan did too, hawking cars and other stuff. I think people tend to believe the mythology of the 60s more than the reality. In interviews, both Dylan and Clapton have made it clear they're not anti-establishment rebels out there 'fightin the man' even if some of their music became anthems for some movements.
