WTF is a Low-profile AGP card? :)

Its an AGP card that will fit in a slot for a micro-atx case. Or sometimes rack servers use them.

Its basically the same as regular AGP only shrunken to fit in the case.

Chaintech has a MX440 thats low profile.

You usually won't see higher end cards in low profile though.

is there any preformance hit for going with a low profile card? it just seems so much smaller. I wonder it it heats up more because there is less room to spread.

Low Profile form factor for PCI and AGP means just that - the cards are not as high, allowing slim cases. Seen in rack servers and living room PC boxes.

While technically it's the same AGP as we know it, height and heat restrictions usually mean the top performing cards are not available in low profile.

Wanna see what they look like? E.g. Powercolor RV2LE Radeon 7500LE is one. www.powercolor.com.tw
