Low profile video cards are mainly used in servers, where space is always at a premium. In a server just about any video, including built in video, will suffice... so they tend to be expensive relative to their performance.
is there any preformance hit for going with a low profile card? it just seems so much smaller. I wonder it it heats up more because there is less room to spread.
Low Profile form factor for PCI and AGP means just that - the cards are not as high, allowing slim cases. Seen in rack servers and living room PC boxes.
While technically it's the same AGP as we know it, height and heat restrictions usually mean the top performing cards are not available in low profile.
Wanna see what they look like? E.g. Powercolor RV2LE Radeon 7500LE is one. www.powercolor.com.tw
