...other than a monkey made out of brass, of course?

listening to the beastie boys song made me think... its a metaphor for something isn't it?

My guess is yes, it's a metaphor for something. What, I don't have a clue. Good song, though.

My grandfather told me I had more 'nerve' than a brass monkey over 40 years ago when I was about 5... I laughed and laughed, not knowing that it's generally referring to the density of your balls! :D

Just thought I would bold the very few and subtle hints that it is a drink. ;) hehehe

It's funny, they make so many brass monkey references throughout other songs too...for example "Yo ho ho and a pint of Brass Monkey" from the song "Rhymin' And Stealin'." (Massive Beastie Boys fan here)

EDIT: Now that I think about it...it's also kinda a dance...see dance reference in italics...also this lyric from "Slow Ride"... "I got the new dance - they call the Brass Monkey"

Hah! No, I have a feeling my grandfather was using the phrase incorrectly too. That was an interesting read, thank you. This occurred about the time my grandmother gave me the nick name, Ornery. My brother and I were probably flicking the back of his ears while he was playing cards or something...
