WTF. I need to vent (neighbor issues..)

I understand that you are 19 and want to have a life. My daughter is 19yrs old too. She has friends over when she is home from college and sometimes they are still watching teevee at 3:00AM but they are always aware and considerate that we are upstairs trying to sleep.

However, I would not care what day of the week it was, if I were trying to sleep and ppl were making noise at 3:00AM I would have a problem. If it is just toilet flushing and stuff I would try to cope, but walking, and if I could hear your teevees and music, I would be banging on your door too.



edit: I am not sure about the laws where you live, but here... there is the 7:00AM - 10:00PM law. Between those hours, all is fair. But before and after, the police will be there.

I do understand. I don't know.. I don't feel like I should not be able to watch tv, flush toilets, or walk around whenever I want. If I ever am trying to sleep or anything when these people are gone I am unable, or have to play soft music to drown out their dog.

Also understand that I am not playing music, not running around, not making noise. We are talking having a couple friends over, walking around, just using the 'living' space type of noise here..

I'm not sure of any law.. but on my lease is says "no excessive noise after 11pm".. I'm not sure what is deemed excessive though

ok, fair enough. You should not be made to feel like you cannot live in your own home.

If you are being considerate to the fact that there are ppl downstairs who are trying to sleep and that they have a child, and that it is the middle of the night and are behaving accordingly... well, perhaps they will not be happy unless there is total silence and they are hellbent on busting your horns no matter what.

In which case, I will repeat my earlier suggestion of putting your thoughts on paper with copies to them and the building management.

Are you admitting that you're loud? :/ Uhmmm. . . .

Anyway, generally speaking, living in apartments can be quite difficult with demanding neighbours. I think you should try to see from their point of view, as much as they should understand where you're coming from. I know of people who had similar problems. At the end, it was the structure of the building that caused the problem. The walls were light; hence, what would seem reasonable would sound loud to the neighbours.

If your neighbours are just quarrelsome, personally, it's hard for me to live with troublesome neighbours. I would much rather move out than have to constantly deal with such neighbours.

Why havent you fallen off a cliff yet?
