WTF? I just received spam that contained my home address

City, state and ZIP. Even had my name and middle fvcking initial. This really pisses me off. The only places that would have that info and my e-mail address are online retailers, AMEX and Citbank. The unsubscribe e-mail address is admin-i@networkpromotion.com. I'm going to find out who sold me out and they are never getting my business again.

Actually, so do I. Have 5 in the immediate family. I will find out, they used my first name nick and middle initial, not a combo I use often. I just have to do some searching.

Right now it's looking like it was either BestBuy or Dell, but I have a couple more accounts to check before I can narrow it down to only these two or not. If anyone gets an e-mail from this place and has ordered from either of these places please post here.

Crap, this might go back to ValueAmerica. Bah, I can't narrow it down any further, I've don too much damn shopping online. If I reply to these guys will they actually remove me from their database or will I just be confirming my address for them to sell to others?

I personally wouldn't reply - its just confirming that they have your details correct. Just try to forget about it, annoying but its the best way to deal with stuff like that.

I was curious if I was the only one to notice that some eTailer had added a string in my registry(instead of just a cookie) for tracking purposes. It included a lot of my personal information. Search your registry for eToll and if it is there, some other company could have read that info. I wasn't even aware that the string was there as I wasn't even notified of its installation or anything, I just happened to find it browsing through the registry. I emailed them about it, but never received a response. There are some links below to the company, who is now called FastForward.

Use a code for the vedor's name as your last name
like:
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
nopqrstuvwxyzabcdefghijklm
so, DELL = qryy chnage to Qurayy
so, BEST BUY = oefg ohl change to Boefgohl

So, if you get spam to Glen Qurayy, you know where they got your name.

Well I think I've found the source, and it wasn't anyone I initially thought it was. Looks like a site I registered with long, long ago partnered up with a few others and that's where they got the info. I dummied out the original account and unsubscribed to everything so hopefully that will stop the spam. But it was really unnerving to see all my info in an e-mail and not know where the hell they got it. Here are a couple of sites I came across in my panic, maybe it will help some of you other folks dealing with spam.
