In the dream I visited a popular state park near Waltham, MA (nothing of that sort IRL).
The state park is known famous for Oden Naturalists, founded by Christopher Oden. The naturalists of 700 live in the park in isolation by choice. They live like jungle tribes, avoiding the use of technology and have established their own culture.
Their culture is primitive and savage. They engage in public beheading, quartering, and bunch of violent acts if someone commits a faux pas. Oden Naturalists are largely controversial due to the immunity protection they receive from the state.
I guess they're the mix of Lord-of-the-Flies, Amish, Naturalists (though they're not nude), and permanent Live-Action-Role-Players (though not medieval-themed).
Oden has established founded this group no longer than two decades ago. So the group and its members are relatively new, still remembering their former modern life style yet participating by CHOICE.
The weirdest part is that the park has a fenced 'display' arena where tourists can take a glimpse into the small part of Oden's inhabitant site. I met Oden when his wife was gravely injured somehow. I remember looking into his eyes and reading his deep sorrow and regret because his wife will inevitably die without modern medical science. Doing so would go against everything he and his group stands for.
Oden is a japanese word for fish cake, which I had yesterday at hot pot. I don't know where everything else came from, usually my dreams have lots of real life references.
