So I'm a "safety officer" at the USGS in California. It's sort of a bullsh!t job, and I'm only here because I'm trying to pay back college loans. I don't intend to make a career out of "safety awareness." But it pays the bills, and I'm fine with that.
So today, I got an email warning about Brown Recluse spiders. It looked credible (and the pics were nasty) so I sent an email out to the rest of the office...hell, if it helps one person, it's worth it, right?
WRONG.
I get a reply-to-all email about 20 minutes later from an asshole INTERN who disputes the entire email, and chose to do so in front of the rest of the entire building, making me look like an idiot. The thing is, this guy is the BIGGEST email forwarder in the office...every fvcking joke email, every fvcking top-ten list, and every fvcking "why men are better than women" email he gets, he forwards to EVERYONE!
Needless to say, I got back at him. I sent an email to his boss asking that he be spoken to about the whole event, and that he be counseled on how to appropriately use the USGS email system. I also recommended that he be suspended without pay for a couple days, and his supervisor emailed me back, saying that he had already scheduled a meeting with HR about the occurrence, and that suspension was a likely outcome.
I fight fire with fire. 😉
