wtf...i cant copy/paste?

this is super bizarre...i cant copy/paste using any method (crtl-c and crtl-v or via the edit menu and then copy or paste). in fact as i type this message i'm trying to do so, but nothing happens all i get is a blank space. i dont think ive really done anything with my system in the past few days ( ij ust put it back together wed. since my rma-ed mobo arrived).

can anyone explain this weirdness?

btw...not being able to copy/paste sucks the big one..
 
i restarted the computer before posting this thread...andi still have the problem...and this happens with all applications..but maybe i'll try again...
 
I had that happen once, a reboot fixed it. As a winblows install ages, little things like this happen more & more. Might be time to reinstall if it's been a while.
 
There was a virus/worm some time ago that caused this in my computer (I think it was Blaster or variant ... can't remember). Run a virus scan and patch Windows.
 
rebooted again...still no copy/paste....argg i'm so frustrated with having to reinstall/format. tho i'll try to virus scan. i havent used this system for a month.
 
well i ran norton AV, installed the security update mentioned by kuk, and have checked my task manager for suspicious programs. still cant copy/paste. i had blaster when it first hit (last august i think) but since i have formatted my pc countless times. i guess this will be another one of them...
 
this happened randomly to me a few months ago, no virus detected, no spyware....it just didnt work. and then i forgot it didnt work, tried to copy and paste and...it worked. I count it as windows sucking is all.
