Ok, i come home, and i come into my room same as usual. My one roomate isn't home. I come to my computer, move my mouse, screen saver goes away. Nothing weird yet. Then i click on my IM away message, and start to read them. This is when all hell breaks loose. My computer freezes, nothing will work, move, anything. So i try Ctrl/alt/delete, no dice. I try turning the computer off with the power button. No dice. I resort to turning power off. I power back on, this is when things are strange. I check my windows account page, and there is a new account created for a "guest", with a diff. picture, and setting have all been changed. ok, whatever. I go to Yahoo to check my baseball teams, i have been logged out of it, (normally i would blame this on my roomate, but she SWEARS she wans't on my 'puter). Anyway, then i get an IM from some girl i've never talked to saying i talked to her this afternoon. She tells me at what time, and i say, nope, sorry, i've b een in class all day and i wasn't even near my computer. She says well someone talked to me at 4pm. Whatever. In addition to this, i have about 6 programs i didn't have before, some installed, some not on my computer. Winamp had been uninstalled, and I have a new media player in it's place, which i can't even find on my programs list.

WTF happened to my computer??????

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but my guess is someone else used your computer.

Time to add some password protection (BIOS, Screen Saver, whatever...)

bonk102, if you're on a network, make sure your firewall is working properly and updated, just a thought.

get a firewall, Zone Alarm pro is a good free one..
get a virus scan, AVG is a good free one.
get ad-aware, because since we're doing all this scanning, we might as well check what kind of crap all those extra programs installed on your computer.

Are you running XP? I heard there was this glitch that allowed anyone to access your 'puter by just going on the net...
