i was at geico.com yesterday, pricing myself a new insurance policy as i was wondering if i could get a better deal. i ran 1 check with 6 customizations (at the very end, you can change portions of your policy to see how much the price is affected). i ran them without comprehesive and collision, with comprehensive, with collision, different deductibles, etc. i got an email with a price quote for each of the 6 policy customizations.

this afternoon, i check my email and i have 6 emails from geico stating that my credit report was checked :Q

i hope it was only checked once as i priced out only one policy (with different options), but receiving 6 emails about it really bugs me. i know every check on your credit report counts towards your score, so is 6 together gonna ruin it totally? :|

I didn't know checks counted against you. I just turned 18 and was looking into my car insurance, Progressive checked it once and then I ran the annual free credit check deal.

GEICO sucks. I have a perfect record and their plan would have cost hundreds more than I was currently paying with Allstate.

Sign up for a 3 month trial to Privacy Guard for $1 and see if they pulled it 6 times. If they did, call them and ask to speak to a supervisor. If they don't oblige contact the credit bureau they pulled.

Checks from 1 company in 1 month count as 1 check with regards to your credit score. You should be ok.

It all depends on how they did it

Why does getting your credit checked affect your score?? This boggles my mind.

Credit scores rank how much money credit companys will make off you. If you go to more then one location that means your not completely stupid, so they don't think they will be able to make lots of money off you so your score goes down.

If you're getting it checked, it's often cause you're using it.

If you hear a single chick is taking birth control, you figure she's a ho. Same thing.
