Went up 7c per litre this morning because of our new carbon trading scheme. Thankfully I hardly ever drive.

What are you bitching about? That's still cheap...or about as cheap as any around here. MOST stations are at $2.85 or above for unleaded regular.

I drove to Orlando last week, 12 hour drive, and on the way back I hit a gas station.

Maxima says to take 93, no biggie really.

87 was $2.49
89 was $2.79
92 was $3.19 (I think their premium was 92)

I had not seen anything like that before. Thank you remotely located gas station.

lol. hows life in your dream world?

Accounting for just inflation alone, not factoring in changes like the switch to seasonal blending, regulation etc a gallon of gas that cost 45 cents in 1974 would cost 1.94 in 2009. We currently pay around 2.45 here. I suspect the non-inflation difference is mostly increased fuel taxes etc since 1974.
