It's going up faster than just before we invaded Iraq....$1.69 one day, $1.73 the next, then $1.79, now $1.83 this morning and $1.89 this afternoon!?!?!?!?

I'm afraid to drive by the gas station tomorrow...no, wait, I have to GET gas tomorrow 🙁 🙁 🙁

WTF is going on? When will the madness end????

Yes....at the local Arco. They're always the cheapest around here. Of course, California takes in the shorts compared to most of the rest of the nation.

We have been paying way more than normal for the last 2 weeks.

It is now $.766 per litre of gas here in London Ontario.

That is approximately $2.90 per gallon of gas. :Q

It was down to 1.49/gal here, then it went back up to 1.59, it's at 1.55 now.

I was wondering the same thing a week or two ago and someone said something about the government filling up the reserves again, but I really don't know for sure. It seems like a rip off.

Gas is like $4 a gallon in Europe. Extremely expensive.

Surprisingly, one sees many big BMW and Mercedes in wealthy Germany than here, despite the high gas prices. German salaries are as high as here btw.

Bah, you damn easterners. It's 81.9 here in Saskatchewan

From CNN:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- As the U.S. summer vacation season winds down, Americans face a surge in gasoline prices, the government warned on Wednesday.

Pump prices have increased 5.5 cents a gallon nationally over the last two weeks, the Energy Information Administration said in its weekly review of the oil market.

"It's possible that we may be in the midst of another late-summer surge (in gasoline prices)" said the agency, which is the Energy Department's analytical arm.

Higher gasoline prices pinch the pocketbooks of consumers and create a drag on the U.S. economy.

EIA said this year's gasoline market is following a pattern seen in 2000 and 2001, when there was a large gasoline price increase in the spring or early summer followed by a substantial price decline throughout the heart of the summer season, only to see prices rise again in late summer.

In 2000, the national price for regular gasoline rose by 11.4 cents per gallon during the four-week period from August 14 to September 11, and in 2001, prices rose by 16.9 cents per gallon between August 6 and September 3.

"Even if spot (wholesale) gasoline prices don't rise substantially from where they were last week...further increases in retail prices may occur, with increases in August possibly approaching those seen in the late summers of 2000 and 2001," EIA said.

The average retail price for regular unleaded gasoline increased this week for the fifth time in six weeks to $1.57 a gallon, the highest level since late April, the agency said.

Helping push gasoline prices up over the last few weeks is a rise in motor fuel demand and a higher crude oil cost that has hovered around $31 a barrel. The price of oil accounts for about 40 percent of the cost of gasoline.

Also, gasoline inventories are below normal. EIA reported on Wednesday that U.S. gasoline stocks stood at 198 million barrels, down 3.7 million barrels from the prior week and the lowest level in almost nine months.

EIA said higher gasoline prices would be needed to encourage refiners to process expensive crude oil into motor fuel, and more gasoline supplies will ultimately lead to lower pump prices.

"But this may not occur until after the end of the summer season," the agency said.

Went by the local independent station this morning and regular was $1.90; Same station raised their price to $2.15 this evening.

I guess its the time of year for back-to-school, football, and price gouging by the oil companies.

Yea, it was like $1.69 at Costco last week; this week when I need gas, I check a local Chevron and it's up to a $1.95.. for freakin regular.. arg!

2.01 of unleaded here in phoenix. We have a gas shortage to. I have driven by many pump that only have one type of gas on hand if any at all.

My mum said that notes came across her desk saying they were raising prices $0.20 a gallon due to refineries stopping production during the power outage :disgust:

They use whatever excuse they can to raise prices

After reading your post, I have no complain about the price I paid today for $1.85/gal

Yeah, I noticed it too.

It was 1.55 at the Chevron right down on the corner(the station I use in all my "gas price" posts), and literally the next day it was 1.76. :Q

It's been at 1.76 for the last 2 days now..

Edit: Heh, didn't realize this was an oldish thread and I had already posted in it. 😛 But yeah, it was 1.55 when I posted the first message, and it went up 21 cents within the next day or two..
