Take one not-quite-former child star. Add in an (apparently older) woman he met a scant few months ago. Toss in a marriage proposal and what do you have?

A recipe for disaster.

Frankie Muniz, 19, whom we've watched grow from an adorable little brainiac to husky-voiced boy-man on "Malcolm in the Middle," is engaged to a mystery woman named Jamie, reports People. The whirlwind courtship began this spring in New Orleans, where he was working on the horror flick "Stay Alive."

The pint-sized star's rep confirmed the impending nuptials to the mag, but says the couple hasn't yet set a date (note to Muniz's handlers: that means there's still time to draw up an airtight prenup).

Few details are available on Frankie's fiancee other than she's a New Orleans native and not an actress.

Muniz, who previously dated actress Megan Hubbell, has grown up fast since landing the lead role in the Fox sitcom back in 2000. He's developed a well-known appreciation for fast cars (he has yet to live down a "Punk'd" gag showcasing his fine whine when he believed his beloved Porsche had been stolen) and pricey real estate.

He recently unloaded one of his L.A. homes, which came complete with "Agent Cody Banks"-style features such as fingerprint-recognition software on the front door, for just under $4 million, and has another mansion on the market for nearly $6 million, according to the LA Times. His newest home is a $3.9 million remodeled Hollywood Hills pad with a theater, pool and spa.

And while there's always a chance Frankie and Jamie will live happily ever after, other child stars haven't fared so well, matrimonially speaking.

Macaulay Culkin and Rachel Miner were both just 17 when they tied the knot in 1998. They split two years later.

Drew Barrymore said "I do" with bar owner Jeremy Thomas when she was 19, but the union went belly-up after just three weeks.

And Judy Garland, Shirley Temple and Elizabeth Taylor all ended up in divorce court after walking down the aisle in their teens.

Still, it's not all bad news for Muniz on the marriage front. Kate Hudson is still happily married to rocker Chris Robinson, whom she wed in 2000 at the age of 21 (they have a son, Ryder). Also going strong is LeAnn Rimes, who was 19 when she tied the knot with dancer Dean Sheremet in 2002.
