WTF??? Florida State Cancels Classes for a Football Game?

OMG, I can't believe this! And this is just for the CLEMSON GAME!!! And just giving Thursday off wasn't enough...oh no. They need THURSDAY AND FRIDAY to get a long weekend. What a bunch of tards! High schoolers have it harder than FSU students! I have lost all respect for anyone who chooses that school 'for the academics'.

the deal is - normally we have a day or 2 off around this time of year for columbus day, and this year to help students and ease parking for the game, they moved the days off to the game. there isn't enough parking on this campus to let the students park every day, let alone the 40,000 alumni who decide to come up for the games and pay for parking in the lots that students normally use, so to help that, move the holiday from a few weeks from now to this weekend, and viola, parking for the paying alumni:)

Just Clemson? Hrms. Bowden vs. Bowden's a pretty big thing. Cancelling class for not one, but two, days? That's pretty stupid. I mean, I wouldn't complain if I went there, but yikes.

Looks like sport is too important nowadays. The German stock exchange just plain stopped/paused during the soccer World Cup final (or was it the semi final?). ;)

i wish Clemson would cancel class for us for 2 days so we could all get down to florida for the game, just so i could get a nice 2 day vacation.

I was up at FSU at the FSU/Duke game (while rooting for UF to beat Tennessee with a half-assed tomahawk chop) to hang out with my friends on Big 8 (the awesome FSU drumline)...

Anyway, when they announced this, I totally became aware of how much of a joke FSU has got to be. My friends that go there treat FSU like it's just more high school - they don't study or anything and they get better grades than I do!!! However, I am currently wishing my school pulled the stick out of their ass and calmed things down a little..

I go to UF.. where I've only had two classes cancelled in two years (9/11), took a physics 2 quiz on 9/11, and took a test on 9/13 despite the UF president's recommendation to move all tests to monday. I study my ass off and get B's and C's.

Anyway, what do all UF and FSU students have in common?

They all got accepted into FSU.



BTW, for anyone looking to go to UF freshman year (who isn't an absolute nerd - those with somewhat social lives), DON'T GO TO UF FRESHMAN OR SOPHOMORE YEARS.. go to santa fe community college or FSU or USF first.. you'll be ahead of me. try competing in classes like Calculus 2 where the drop rate is 50% and 60% of the people in the class have taken Calc 2 already.

Yeah, that's why my car got towed from MY PARKING SPOT in front of MY DORM ROOM every Saturday if I didn't wake up at 8am to drive it off campus to the PR lot. Chapel Hill has a MUCH WORSE parking/traffic situation than FSU could ever have (our campus was designed back when cars didn't exist.)

UF bends over backwards to appease its alums. Besides building a new center for them across the stadium (more like a shrine), now they require student parking spaces within a couple miles radius of the stadium to be vacated so all the RVs can park there for game day. I got a friendly little note on my car after class telling me I had to move it by 6 p.m. or have it towed. They even screw over the dorm residents who have their cars parked outside their residence halls. Kinda speaks as to where this school's priorities are.

Christ guys, the whining in here sounds like one of my sister's temper-tantrums.... I know you may not be able to comprehend it, but sports are incredibly important (and can play an incredibly good role) to some people. Just because you got cut from 8th grade football doesn't mean you gotta hate on the atheletically gifted.
