so i was watching some old topgear, and decided to check my email

opened up firefox, it tells me to choose a user profile! puzzled, i chose default, but it did not allow me to use it.

so i created something called "default user"

and all my cookies, themes, extensions, and most importantly, my organized bookmarks... ALL GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i tried searching the help, but i can't find anything called "user profile"!!!!!!

this is stressing me out! please help... i know this is not the software forum but im paniking! this sucks!

Assuming Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\....... is where you should be looking for your lost profile

That happened because firefox was still running..not sure how to get back to the default

In any case, firefox really pisses me off sometimes...on an old computer or when i'm using the cpu heavily, often times firefox will freeze up, bring up the quality control agent and proceed to crash itself..or sometimes it does it out of the blue..very annoying.

Kill the firefox process in task manager and start it again.

ok after about 5 minutes of panic, i went to the mozilla support forum, mozillazine

searched for "profile"... turns out that you have to run "firefox.exe -p"

then select the correct profile

ah all is good now. i hope this will help.

It's because it didn't completely close the last time you used it, and the default profile is still in use by the other copy. Give it the three-finger-salute and end the old process.

Every browswer has its faults. Some less than others.

yes, the "quality control agent" does crash itself and the browser! :|
