The car is a 2000 Saturn SC1. The Haynes manual states that the tab you need to push is on the top, similar to what this video shows:

I think that is wrong because I have the new cylinder in my hand and can see the tab at the bottom if I line it up the same way the old installed one is. After staring at it for about an hour, I noticed a small pinhole on the side of the housing (~1/8"). I can stick a hex key in there and feel/hear the tab compress, but I can not slide the cylinder out. What gives?

At the end of the video, he states that if you have a "gen 3" (which I assume your car is, since his guide is for 91-99 gen 2, and yours is a 2000), there's a small pinhole on the bottom right side that you press in rather than a tab at the top.

Are you putting your key in the accessory position, then pressing in the hole, and then pulling the key straight back?

I know the video said turn to Accessory, but the way he turned the key and the indications from the dash, indicated he went to the ON position.

Got it out. That black box on the bottom of the housing (where that electrical plug is) is the shift interlock cable. It had to be removed before the cylinder would slide out.
