WTF did Dell do with my resume?

UNCjigga

Lifer
Okay, recently I filled out an employment application on Dell's website. Today I get an email from DELL@saztec1.com under the subject: "Thank you for your interest in employment at DELL". The body of the message, in its entirety, is quoted below:
Thank you. You have been referred!...?
Now to make things interesting, I filled out the app using my school email address, and my school email is the only one listed in my attached resume. HOWEVER, this email came in through my Yahoo account. The funky-looking email and lame message lead me to believe this is some sort of scam...but where's the scam? And I *did* just apply for the job 2 days ago. So wtf is going on? 😕

I did a whois and it came up with Saztec International. When I go to their website, it redirects me to Datamatics Technologies Ltd. This company appears to be a BPO provided outsourced Human Resources. Maybe this isn't a scam?? Still wondering how they got my yahoo address though...

Is dell selling resumes?
Yeah, I dunno. I guess resume exposure isn't a bad thing but I don't feel comfortable with this. I guess it just leads me to believe there is no hope of an actual Dell employee looking at my resume and making a decision.

*shrug* I know that if you give them your driver's license number, they can get your registered e-mail that you have with your secretary of state's office. Hotels are doing that a lot now it seems, whenever I stay somewhere I get an e-mail from the hotel company a week later thanking me for staying and asking me to fill out a customer satisfaction survey.

But if you haven't had to fill out any new forms at your SoS for any reason, then they might not have your e-mail on file.
