WTF? Dell prices throughout the world

As I need to choose servers for different offices around the world I was looking at several Dell sites for prices.

Dell Poweredge 2500 basic server, mouse excluded, 128MB RAM, no software:

www.dell.com, US site : 3,413.16 Euro
www.dell.nl, Dutch site : 2,780.00 Euro Exluding taxes, 3,308.20 Euro including
www.dell.de, German site : 2,015.00 Euro Excluding taxes, 2,337.40 Euro including
www.dell.co.uk, English site : 1,791.07 Euro Excluding taxes, 2,104.51 Euro including

Uhm... Anyone else notice the rip-off scene?

Skyclad1uhm1, it would cost me different prices to ship something to different countries, why would Dell be any different?

yeah but shipping doesn't cost that much.

Dell prices in each market according to the local economy... it's priced at whatever the market will bear.

Edit: Not to mention that Dell probably manufactures those PCs in Europe.

Good point luv2chill, same as the X-box cost about $300.00 here in the US at retail, but will be over $400.00 in Europe 🙁

All Dell PCs in Europe are shipped from Ireland. England is closest by, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were cheapest (as they are). The Netherlands is closer by than Germany though, and yet are 765 Euro more expensive than Germany, and almost 1000 Euro more expensive than England. Our company ships computers allover the world, and I know that it won't even cost you 1000 Euro to ship a computer to South America from here, let alone that the shipping costs from Ireland to The Netherlands are even a 100 Euro.

Do Dell computers have as good a rep over there as they do here? Like are they considered one of the best brands to get? Are there any European computer makes that are equivalent to Dell or Gateway here? Just curious.

Congratualations, you've actually found something cheaper in the UK than in the US! I think I might just go and buy one just to celebrate (...on second thoughts, maybe not)

Dell is ranked #1 here I think, above Compaq. Gateway doesn't do that well over here. A German brand (Siemens) scores very high here too.

<< that's not fair, I'm here in the US and I have to pay more? >>

<sarcasm>My heart bleeds, really it does...</sarcasm> 😉

You guys in the US have it easy - when it comes to prices on 98% of things!

yup sometimes i get philips electronics/appliance catalogs with prices in british pounds.. the prices are pretty scary compared to us stuff😛

Its cheaper for me to buy my DVDs etc from the US and have them imported into the UK than it is to buy them over here! Its a shame I cannot do the same for computer hardware and petrol too!

Wait a minute... any of you guys want to send me over a 10,000 litre barrel of petrol 😀

Mitzi, you may want to go and buy a Cadillac Seville STS while you're at it, because they cost around £33,000 here, which when converted to US$ is cheaper than the list price in the USA. 🙂

BTW, where do you get your import DVDs from, I might do the same thing if it works out cheaper.

<-- Is thankful for his region free DVD player.
