wtf, delivery man, bring some change!

so I just ordered some food for delivery, the guy shows up and has no change at all. the bill was $21.25. I had 2 twenties and 3 singles, so I was going to have him take 2 twenties and give me some change, out of which would come his tip, probably $25 total. but, since he has no change, and i'm not about to pay 40 bucks for a 21 dollar meal, I give him $23.

he walks down the stairs saying "chinga tu madre" under his breath.

shouldn't a delivery guy carry at least some change?

not even a driver, the place is literally 3 blocks away. i'm just watching chuck so i didn't want to go pick it up...
 
Wait, you had $23 but were going to give him $25 total?

And yeah, he's probably doing it to get people to just give him the difference as a tip (possibly told to do this by the place he works for). I guess they might not due to the risk of being mugged.

i had 2 twenties and 3 singles. i figured a generous tip would be $25, which was not possible with the bills i had. therefore, i hoped to reach that value using the change that the delivery man would give me from $40, combined with my 3 singles. however, he had no change, so I gave him as close to that amount I could: $23.

Damn, 2 twenties. Not sure how I read that as tens. Self ownage on my part.

I would have just given him $23. $1.75 is plenty tip for delivery, especially since you were probably charged a $2+ delivery fee on top of that. If he's pissy over that, he should get a better fucking job or learn to be thankful he's getting any tip at all. Do you have a nice car or house? Maybe he thought you were rich and expected a healthy tip or something (which it sounds like you were intending to do).
