just installed XP, first time using IE 6, when to soundblaster.com and had to wait forever on my slow modem connection for IE to download the java virtual machine? does that not mean IE 6 doesnt support a lot of java stuff right out of the box in xp, or am I missing something ?

Bingo. MS decided not to bundle their JVM with IE6 and WinXP. So in order to run any Java application/applet, you have to download one separately.

If you upgrade over a copy of Windows and IE that includes Java virtual machine, you should still have this stuff when you finish.

Wasn't that the result of Sun's lawsuit against Microsoft? Microsoft can't bundle the Java package with their OS offering.
