WTF? Declaring a Major in highschool now?

Sounds like it isn't too big a deal (defines a total of four elective courses and essay topics), but regardless it seems unnecessary at best. It certainly shouldn't be required to declare a "major"--heck, even in college you can come in undeclared to give yourself more time to decide.

At my friend's high school, they have to choose between joining an academy, or majoring in a specific subject. I really do not understand why. But I think it is a good idea for those that know what they are going to do. Plus you get a sash during graduation, that's always worth it.

It's hard. Even as a third year in college, I begin to regret my major sometimes. It pisses me off. All the EE guys are ahead of me in terms of knowledge in their field.

Declaring a major before entering college is hard enough ><

At my high school, they do make you choose a major or an academy but they do not really follow through on it.

Pretty lame. I definitely did not know what I wanted to do with my life when I was in high school. I'm in my second year of college and I still don't know.
