WTF? Crazy message on bootup even after complete reformat

LOL, seriously?... if you're serious... you are so hacked 🙂

You have got a virus from somewhere, or someone has gained control of your computer, and they have hidden a program somewhere clever on your system. You need to clear the boot sector of the main drive - are you sure you did this when you formatted? I'd flash the BIOS too.

i was getting that message so i decided to reformat, still no luck

i deleted both of my drives, so i guess only thing left is to flash the bios?

You want to return the drive to it's original state - reformatting your partitions does not do this. You need the tool provided by the drive manufacturer. It will come on a bootable disk and give an option like 'low level format' or 'write zeros to the entire drive'.

Are you connecting your PC to the internet?

If so, make sure that your router's is firewall is activated. Download the service packs and hot fixes, and stick them on a CD/DVD.

With your comp physcially disconnected from any network, reformat, install windows, and then install all the latest hotfixes and service packs, and a recent antivirus program.

Once all this installed, you can reconnect your PC to your router - keep the router's firewall enabled though.

If you are using a modem (USB or internal) to connect to the internet - throw your modem away immediately, and buy a suitable router with firewall function.

This has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen...

I've heard of viruses before, but not evangelical ones...

If this isn't a joke, I'd certainly say it is slashdot worthy.

Edit: After googling "in memory of c8c", I found this page about the worm http://www.sophos.com/security/analyses/w32bustoya.html

Seems like a hacker picked a special way to commemorate the passing of a dear friend...

Re-edit: To me it seems that 'c8c' has to do with some type of exploit or defunct program. Another result in googling c8c has to deal with the item no. of "Microsoft CRM v3.0 Small Business Server"

fixed! i'm surprise the fix was so easy, hopefully it's truly out of my system

i'm not exactly sure how to check if it is, but it ain't showing up anymore so who knows? 🙂

a person had the same problem as me at forums.techguy.org and i used hijackthis & deleted all the O4 extenions or whatever and wolah! hopefully it's really out of my computer, lol

W32/Bustoy-A is a worm for the Windows platform.

When first run W32/Bustoy-A copies itself to:

<Startup>\systemnt.exe - This will cause the worm to autorun on Windows startup.
<System>\mslogon.exe

W32/Bustoy-A will also attempt to copy itself to removable drives as toy.exe. The worm also creates the file autorun.inf on the drive in an attempt to run itself automatically when the drive is connected.

W32/Bustoy-A may display the following message on the computer's screen:

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
And the earth was without form, and void.
And darkness was upon the face of the deep.
God said: Let there be light. And there was light.
Also There was another world.
Into the world of music, spirit and meditation.
And relax yourself , Let the rhythm be your guiding light!

BTW: Hei! You need to take care of your own file in Removable Disk.

Are you connected to a network with other computers that might be carriers? Or are you just directly connected to the internet? Also do you have SP2 and all the secruity updates?

Assuming you are running Windows XP.....

Start over again.
Scan any other PCs on your network for infections.
Scan any removable hard drives or USB drives for infections. (According to the Sophos notes, this worm creates an Autorun.inf file that will re-install the worm when you connect to a removable drive.)

Obtain the Windows XP SP2 patch if your orginal CD doesn't have it included.
DISCONNECT your PC from ANY network connections
Reformat the hard drive.
Install Windows XP.
Patch Windows XP to SP2.
Enable the SP2 Firewall.

NOW connect the PC to the Internet and run Microsoft Update to patch it the rest of the way to the latest updates.
