ARRRRRRGGHHHH

I'm trying to get tickets to the 2002 WBCN (local boston radio station) River Rave, and tickets are like $50 plus handling fees.

This worth it?

Nope not worth it at all. Unless you like any of those groups (outkast is the only one I would want to see)

Its worth it only if you are willing to pay that.

I paid $145.00 for concert tickets to bonnaroo, but that is a 3 day event with camping.

I dunno, I personally think that's a pretty f*cking kick-ass lineup, and $50 is definetely worth it. If you like the bands, go and have fun all day, you'll forget about how much you spent.

Between Fuel and Weezer last year, and the upcoming Incubus/Hoobastank concert that I'd already paid for, that's a lot of money. damn. But it's worth it. ;)

$50 for any festival involving more than 1 band is a friggin steal these days.
Tix for The Who are like $90 for goddam LAWN seats. I wonder if Jimmy "Greedmeister" Page's involvement has any involvement....
Just 4 years ago I sat in the FRONT ROW for The Who at the SAME VENUE for $60.

Good thing we have things like NEARfest where you get 10 bands over 2 days for as little as $60.

So goes life. I just paid more then $90 per ozzfest ticket a few weeks back. I've paid $130 for a U2 ticket (not scalped) and I think $100 each for some $30 tickets (very good show). I don't necessarily mind paying to see a great band but what gets me are freaking Ticketmaster Charges. I the service charge on my ozzfest tickets was $10.75 per. That's how $68 --> $90+.

I paid almost that much just for Dave Matthews.

That's nothing. I just paid $125/ticket (face value) to see Paul McCartney, and the most expensive seats were TWICE that much.

Paying a lot for tickets is okay - and is the only way that I choose to actually support a band since touring is how they make most of their money anyway.... I will steal their music to shaft the greedy record companies and then use the money I saved to see the shows.

Ticketmaster is downright evil. There's nothing like paying $50 for an event ticket, but only being able to purchase them through Ticketmaster. By the time you receive the ticket, Ticketmaster has added their $7.00-$12.00 fee on top of the ticket price.

I get a kick out of that $1 "facility fee". Do they really give that fee to the arena/facility hosting the event? Or do they use it to further line their pockets?

<< The Ticketbastard fees will piss you off though. >>

Ticketbastard...hehe I like it! I usually refer to DICK-ME-MASTER :)

And yes, their mickey mouse $5-$10 "service" fees are f_cking ridiculous.

I usually get a good chuckle from the "seat rental" fee.

Consider that some musicians may actually want to make a living from their work. Of course, they don't perform every day, and they have to rehearse to be good enough to put on a show worth the money, and this is a legitimate part of the work for which they are being paid.

Then, multiply the ticket price times the number of seats in the arena, subtract out the costs of renting the facility, paying for the concert staff, promotion, licenses, taxes, insurance, etc., and you'll probably find that most musicians are underpaid. At the top, those that are making big bucks for their shows aren't doing as well as the megabuck pro athletes.

The only part of ticket prices that pisses me off is the part that goes to the legalized scalpers who add whatever the market will bear on top of the face price of the ticket. There is a legitimate cost of ticket distribution, but the only difference between these thieves and the illegal scalpers is that they paid off some government official for a license to steal. They should be jailed. :|

Too see the Eagles in concert here in Calgary will cost you a minimum of $100 for nosebleed seats. Over $200 for decent seats. :(

I really don't mind the prices. the $130 I paid to see U2 this time around was worth every penny. Even when I bought the scalped tickets, worth every penny. I'm just complaining about the TM fees. While I agree there are costs to distribution on such a large scale, I know TM is taking more then their fair share of profits.

I know I'll get shafted when the time comes to buy my Eagles tickets this year but with tickets you really do get what you pay for.

But the convenience they offer. . .

No, wait, they charge for that, too. :|

It really kills me when there's a $12 surcharge on a $15 ticket to a small-venue show....

Ticket prices were $50.00 * 4 = 200
"Convenience" charge PER ticket = $7.95 !!!!
Handling charge = $3.25

Total Anal Raping = $235.05

Stupid sons of beeeeotches

Yeah, because you need $8 PER ticket. Like it takes SO MUCH MORE effort to send 4 tickets instead of 1.
