Just got a new (to me) 1997 Pontiac Grand Am and called my insurance company today to get it insured. I've got full coverage with a $250 deductible and full glass coverage. Cost me $240/6 months, or $40/month.

I ugpraded from a 1989 Ford Probe which was $204/6 months.

So I got a car which is 8 years newer and the price increase was $36/6 months.

Oh, btw, I'm under my parent's insurance coverage. Maybe that makes a difference ;)

I just find it suprising how people are saying their insurance is going to cost them $4000/6 month. Heck, insurance for a full year would cost more than my car :Q:confused:

if it makes you feel any better, i pay $637/month for my explorer and a jag. My yearly quote for my new bike is $2400/year. Try and budget that at 19 years old.

this is a totally different topic. He was asking why his is so high and I'm asking why mine is so low.

Yes, and that's TOTALLY irrelevant, isn't it, requiring a WHOLE nother thread intirely...

Hey, if you think I should have posted this in the other thread, then fine, I will. Just thought I'd post it in a new thread because the other one hasn't been responded to since early this morning plus mine is a little different.

There's absolutely no reason for the negative comments.

ugh i love how people complain about having to pay $40 a month for car insurence. Im 23 driving a 2001 VW Passat GLX and i pay $1440 every 6 months. I have a single accident on my record which was my fault but was not major though it added $150 every 6 months. I wish i only had to pay $40 a month. Consider yourself very lucky.
