WTF? Can't call an 800 number from my cell phone

I got a letter from my local gas company saying they need to replace my meter and I'm trying to call their 800 number but it's saying the number I'm trying to call is not available in my calling area. Cingular claims it is because it is a regional 800 number. Both of my cell phones are in my local area code and neither of them work.

This is retarded.

Anybody have this problem before?

I just got the same message from cingular calling other cingular people about an hour ago.

I think they have network problems.

I just hung up with them and they claim it is a routing issue with the 800 number itself. I had the same issue with another 800 number last week.

Don't have one FTLoss!

Well all I can say is I returned a business call from somebody I regularly speak with and got the exact same message.

I bet routing problems with their system.

My friend just called the same number from a different area code on a verizon phone and got thru no problem... this pisses me off.

True, I'll just have to call tomorrow from work.

That's not exactly unknown... regional 800 numbers are still popular in some places. I can't call my bank from my cell phone... or several of my friends' cell phones (that I've tried). The call just fails.

I have this issue with some 1-800 or 1-877 numbers... some of them work, and some don't... that's just the way it is I guess
