I love A1 steak sauce. LOVE it. I would drink it straight if I didn't think it would kill me, after which I would have my coffin filled with it so that I would be the tenderest, most delicious person at the resurrection.
My problem is that Canadia A1 is NOTHING like good ol' muricin A1. It actually tastes exactly like HP sauce (which tastes like albino emu buttholes).
Why did they change it? I will now compile a list of foodstuffs that share a name but little else between america and it's hat. Please post your contributions.

Smarties are like Sweet Tarts in America, but are apparently like M&Ms in Canuckistan.

Smarties are similar to M&Ms. I think they're a tad sweeter and crunchier, owing to a thicker candy shell. You can get them pretty much anywhere in the Commonwealth. Nestle makes them.

The US Smarties are available here, but are branded as Rockets instead. You usually only see them at Halloween. They're a poor man's Sweet Tart. Apparently Nestle doesn't sell the chocolate ones in the States due to a naming rights dispute with the other Smarties.

Coffee Crisp is another candy bar only available in Canada. It's a sweet coffee flavoured wafer coated in chocolate. There's also Aero bars, which are also sold throughout the Commonwealth and Europe. Bubbled chocolate in either plain, mint, or orange flavour. The mint ones are my favourite.

I'll admit our bagged milk is really bizarre. Can't speak for the steak sauce being different because I've never had the American version.

Canadian Coke is like the mexican coke.
No, it's not. It's closer to American Coke. It's made with HFCS, where as Mexican Coke is made with cane sugar. There's a huge difference between the two.

The one American thing I really wish we got here is Pepsi Throwback. It came out for one summer then disappeared. I was heart broken.

A1 is the shit. It's so good it makes me feel bad for putting it on good steak just so I can taste the sauce, which I could do just as well if I put it on bread, or lettuce, or a spoon.

And yes, everything is different in Canada. Their cigarettes come in weird flat packs, beer bottles have to be returned, hamburgers have spices, the maple syrup didn't come from another country, they buy gas for their cars in little bottles called leeters that cost $100 each, their sand is black and it burns, they get to change governments whenever someone has bad breath or loses at bridge, and everything they say sounds like a question, like they're not sure they will be there this time next year. I don't trust 'em.

I just opened up a bottle of A1 Wednesday and was seriously considering drinking it. So damn good. I wonder if Canadians have even tasted real A1 to compare to their version. I'm guessing they just lose out due to focus groups and will never know.

A1 doesn't taste like HP to me.

HP Bold is one awesome sauce.
