WTF, Cables in store are EXPENSIVE

I went to Best Buy to get a crossover cable, it was 22bucks. I also wanted a USB expansion cable, and that was another 20 bucks. That is ridiculous. I didn't get any cables. Who pays that much?

Er.. I crimp my own RJ-45 cables.. and USB? I get them for like $10, $15 at Future Shop (but then that's a Canadian store).

Well if you just need 1 cable, might as well bite the bullet and pay the high prices. But if you need multiple cables buying a crimper and a big roll of cable saves alot of money. A box of cable holding 250 feet should at the most cost 70-75 bucks, and with a crimper making cables is easy. Last time I needed a cable, I just bought a box of it. Far more cable than I needed, but in the end it will be a better deal.

USB cables, I don't know anything about making those.

Thats how B&M stores stay in biz. Markup on hardware is only around 5-10% so they have to make money on the small stuff
