I had the EXACT same problem with my scientific atlanta 8000HD adelphia/comcast box.

I had a DVI to HDMI converter cable (no HDMI port on cable box) and i kept getting that message.

I just gave up and switched to component when comcast help desk didn't know what HDMI was...

I had this happen a few times when I was setting up my cable box with DVI -> HDMI. I don't remember exactly how I got rid of it, but I think powering the box off and on and/or messing with settings might help offset this (i.e. switching between 480i, 480p, 720p, etc.). Once it just went away on its own.

I have the Motorola DCT6200.
