WTF!?! Are you supposed to supply your own USB cord now?

I got my new Canon i950 printer, and I am pretty excited.
But, I can't find the USB cord.
Are we supposed to supply our own now?

Yeah, manufacturers stopped including cables with the printer a long time ago. It makes sense, really. Lots of people already have a cable so why should the manufacturer waste money supplying one with every box? It would be nice if the box clearly notified people of that fact, though.

All the USB printers I have bought are like that. The cord is like 5 bucks online, or 10 at CompUSA. Make sure you get the right one.

Best Buy tells you right before you buy the scanner or printer... and then shows you their $20 Belkin USB cables. 😕

Heh.. 😀

It is after 9pm here, so I think I have to get it at Wal-Mart.
The guy there said $19 for the 12 foot one. What rip off, but I will pay that happily, since they are open.

I have a lot of Canon printers (All of one model though) and they all came with USB cables. My HPs, however, NEVER have come with any sort of cabling. The 812C I can understand - it has both USB and parallel connectivity. But the cables cost what? 25 cents in uber-bulk purchase?

i noticed that, too. ive been delivering and setting up some new lexmark e321 (i think thats the number) for the teachers and none of the m have usb cables anymore.

Its so stores have a chance to push the gold plus monster sheilded air free neodymium overthruster USB cable for $45

Cables/ink/small add ons are a retail stores bread and butter

My Epson didn't come with a cable. Though it kind of makes sense as they would have to supply three cables because it's compatible with Parallel, USB, and ADB (Apple Desktop Bus) if they supplied cable. The only time I've had something come with cables is when those cables are fairly hard to find, like my digicam's USB cable that has the really small connector on the one end. Sure they can be found, but it's not all that common.

My old dot matrix had a parallel cable in the box but not so with the HP I bought a few years ago. God bless the swapmeet I goto where we get $20 Belkin cables for $2-$3😎

its been like ten years since they "gave" you a parallel cable, so i wouldn't expect a USB cable
