When the Denver library opened their doors after a major renovation the crowds descended on all the available computers. There were only a few terminals free and they were in the children's area. I glanced into one section and there's some guy browsing a porn site.

Educational purposes... ;)

So you're in favor of child molesters.

No. What I'm not willing to do is put ridiculous restrictions on millions of law-abiding people to prevent a tiny number of crimes that could be avoided anyways if parents did a better job of watching their own children.

I call shens. Tell us which library so that this can be confirmed. Probably it was more like you cannot go in unless you are with a child; no way parents are expected to surrender their kids to library staff if taken into this area.

yes, but then restrict just some computers, not the books.

my point was, libraries tend to be the hangout places for pervs. That's why they are being strict and hope that it would shoo that kind of people away.

Yes, but the perv rate is not actually THAT high. The biggest issue is with people watching porn on the computers who WANT to seen seen watching it. Yes, they are that dumb. There's a continual rotation of people getting arrested for it at most libraries. That said, when was the last time there was a kidnapping from a library? I can't even remember one.
