WTF?! 2005 Civic HX doesn't have A/C, even as an option?!

2005 Honda Civic HX

The difference between the HX and all the other Civic trims is that it uses variable valve timing and a continuously variable transmission. It also has 2hp more than the other trims.

most of the non-hybrid civics have 29/38 mpg (city/hwy).

The HX has 35/40 mpg.

Better gas milage, more horsepower. yet, WTF was Honda thinking about not having A/C, even as an option?

They figured if you want A/C, you can buy the EX or the DX.

Like all honda "options" that aren't included in the trim package (DX, LX, HX, etc.), A/C is available from the dealer. Same as the Civic DX.

My sister has an HX with A/C. Because it's a genuine Honda accessory, it looks and functions exactly like the A/C on the LX and EX.

Honda has been doing it this way for as long as they've been selling cars here, AFAIK. (Very few factory options--just different trim levels--lots of dealer-installed accessories.)

either it doesn't fit. or it isn't profitable with its strange wheels and tranny and they just discourage purchase that way

God Damn It. It fits. It fits fine. The A/C is optional. On the Honda website, go to "Build & Price." It's there, under "Accessories"->"Electronic."

It's not standard equipment because the HX is supposed to be the environmentally friendly high-efficiency model, and adding an A/C is adds weight and fuel consumption which goes against that goal.

The HX is the economy model... but yeah... that's pretty stupid. I mean, even Daewoos and Kias come with standard AC I think.

Never mind that the SE/Value Package is cheaper, comes with A/C, and will get the same mileage.

BTW, I could probably drive like a riceboy trying to make F&F3 casting call and still not get 28/35. I make low 30's in the city and near 50 on the highway. :p

The Skoorb effect is STRONG in this thread.

Posted again, probably to be ignored:

AC is a dealer installed option!

Those number are supposed to be in MILES. I'm sure you can get 50 km/gal. I'm calling shens on 50 miles/gal.

But yes, the HX's increased fuel economy is not significantly better than other Civic models.

Edited for kms instead of litres.

Those number are supposed to be in US GALLONS. I'm sure you can get 50 miles/L. I'm calling shens on 50 miles/gal.

quoted for WTFness ..

a liter is less than a gallon .. so 50 m/L would be much, much better economy than 50 mpg ... a bit of calc action gives me 189 mpg.

Maybe 50 km/gallon
