I am curious to what other people think should be built in place of the WTC site? Sounds like a memorial is being pushed kinda hard by government officials... I dont know if I agree 100% on that. I think that a very large, well designed complex that encorperates the entire site would be the best idea for the area. Also if you designed the complex to incorparate a memorial I think it would be a sign of moving on, and also a sign that we as a country can not be knocked down, but yet still respecting the lives lost. Personally if I had a family member lost in the tradgedy I would like a memorial, but I think incorparating it into a new building complex is so much better of an idea! Plus dedicate the new building to all the people lost in the tradgedy... have a large wall with all the names of the people that died, and if they where an employee or one of the rescue workers... I think it would be very moving!
And I just though of this.... but the large arched pieces of the WTC that are left... if you know what I am talking about... use them as a wall within an internal area of the complex (like a large lobby or comerce center) and in each on of the arches you put marble that has the names of the people lost, and since these "arches" are so tall, you only go like 10 ft with the marble, and on top of these you put statues of Police, Fire, rescue, and buisness persons. And along the top of this is engraved in marble "United We Stand Forever"
Just my idea. I would like to hear yours!
