WTB Laptop with best screen

Would like to buy a replacement for my wife's six year old Thinkpad. The battery has gone to crap and a straight up battery replacement from Lenovo would cost as much as a low end laptop.

What I would like is a laptop that has a 1080 or higher display as the primary requirement. Dependability, then GPU then CPU then drive are the descending requirements.

Her main uses for the laptop are editing photos, spreadsheets, and website mgmt. More screen real estate would be welcome.

A Thinkpad with an IPS display would be a good choice, or an Asus UX31A-DB71 or equivalent, or a "retina" Macbook Pro if you don't mind dual booting into Windows for productivity.

Isn't the CPU much more important than the GPU for photo editing? Anything with a truly strong mobile CPU or GPU is also going to have crap battery life (a couple of hours at best).

If you are just into display then a MAcBook Pro is what I would recommend. I would also lean towards ultrabook if you are for design, portability and performance. Toshiba Satellite or HP Envy are the ultrabooks that I would want to have if I have cash. 😀
