WTB laptop cdrom -> IDE converter

A) what is this type of port called?

B) i bought this drive for a little tiny compaq desktop, but i could have sworn it said it wasn't for laptops, but it definitly is a laptop drive. is there a converter to make it ide? or where can i get a SFF drive for a desktop?

There are adapters that you can buy to adapt a notebook hard drive to regular ide but I don't know if these would work for notebook cd-roms. If you got the wrong item, why don't you return it?
