If you only buy new then try to stretch your budget to a 7850 or 650ti boost. They can be found sometimes for as low as $110 after rebate. They are a much better value then the sub $100 stuff like the 7770 as long as you have the psu to power it.

I'd seriously look at 7850....they overclock like mad and damn good value.....specially if you can get the 2 gig version

It really makes sense to come with another $30-50 upfront because the jump from a 7770 to something like a 7850 is significant and when when you overclock it is massive.

What does the rest of your build look like and what resolution will you play?

thanks i'll consider it ....my X4 rig needs a lot of juice and my mere black silver 550 is barely enough to power it... (i have to detach 2 of my HDD, i got 4 1TB :( ) just so it doesn't restart/shut down while playing games...i am planning pick up a higher rated PSU..that's why my budget is extremely low

X4 965, 16GB 1600 memory, enlight black silver 550 (will be replaced along with the graphic card), 4 1TB WDC blue, 1 optics, and an AverMedia capture card

mainly use this for work, only play games as a distraction :)

7850 overcloking like mad edition without burning your card:

Open CCC, increase power by 20%, increase core clock to 1000+ MHz. Add a bit to the memory.

Overclok like mad done.

Of course you can do a a really mad mad overclock with increased voltage and getting to 1300 core, but no need to.

Well even a 7770 will be a huge boost over a 5570 (I first read 5770) but it is almost criminal not to go just that bit further since the difference will be so big.

But if you can't, you can't.

The R7 250 is slow. Can you return it?

7770 is faster and cheaper, 7790 is better, and 7850 would be best and close to your budget.

i ended up picking up this HIS R7 250 http://www.hisdigital.com/un/product2-767.shtml it's within budget...and a lot faster than my 5570...was this a good choice on my part ??
This is definitely not something I'd go with ~

The only reason to go for an R7 250 would've been DX 11.2 compatibility but otherwise it sucks as a VFM option!

What he said. It's around half the performance of a card you can get for $65.

Yeah, that card is going to be a slight upgrade from what you have. An R7 250 is slower than even a 7750.

BTW: Unless you have a really poorly made PSU, 550W is plenty for a hungry quad and a better GPU. I have a Phenom II 965BE @4GHz with an overclocked HD7950 and at 100% load it is right at the 80% threshold of my 520W PSU. And it never hits full load under normal usage.

7790 or 7850 depending on how flexible your budget is and how willing you are to wait for sales and rebates and how much you value game bundles

(old review, with newer drivers the 7xxx series does better, compaired to the older more matured cards above)

GPU score of 3565 on the 5570.
GPU score of 13,486 on the 7770 (~3.8 times as fast)

Something like a 7770 is a good buy if your budget is in the ~80$ range.

Here:

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition ~79.9$ after Mail in rebate.

If you get get enough for a 7850 on sale, for a good price that would be a big step up though.
