Hi guys,

first of all, i'm not that good in english so just forgive my grammar.

My gtx 650 is dying, it showing artifact when gaming. So I tried using my old gpu, xfx gtx 285, but all the games i played were lagging all over. even when playing old games like CoD MW, or cpu-intensive CSGO. So i assume the xfx also dying, but my friend tested it (GTA5) running good on athlon quad-core (with 600w gigabyte psu, u can't find any review on this on the net).

is my build bottlenecking the xfx gpu? because most of the games i'm playing regularly is not really gpu intensive, like csgo, dota2

Specs:
Athlon II X2 B22
Biostar A870
Corsair vengeance LP 4GBx2
Cooler Master G550M 80+ Bronze

also, i read that high temp and/or low efficiency psu can cause lagging while gaming, true? the psu not listed in johnny's lemon list tho..

Eek, this system is in desperate need of a CPU upgrade.

I would strongly recommend picking up a used Phenom II X4 965 off of eBay. This should help alleviate the bottleneck.

Or have you tried core unlocking on that CPU?

So, bottleneck is the issue here? when using xfx 285.

No

2 core Athlon from that era, has run out of legs. :/

I know :(. i'm surveying for upgrade actually but the gpu dying. i'm poorfag.

Agree. Considering i5 2500k is still strong 5 years later it is wise to get the latest i5 minimum.

Would not recommend a i3, 2 core CPU for 2016 gaming build.

Go i5 or save up some more, eat noodles for a week or whatever. Getting an i3 in 2016 is asking for it to be worthless in 2017+. :)

haha.. i thought this term only being use in my country.. okay guys, thanks for the assist. new cpu and/or mobo it is..

Possible, but failing gpu tend to artifact. Potentially it could also be overheating so it throttles.

The other obvious reason, your PC is infected with malware/viruses.

CSGO should play real smooth, even an APU only runs it fast.

Or you can try and find cheap second hand athlon II X4.
I saw my colleague used that + the HD7870 I sold him and he played AC Black Flag kinda smooth at high settings 1080p.

Now that you at least have a quad core, a new GPU may be in order.
