Get a more powerful CPU  McAfee will get through the file eventually, it's just doing its job thoroughly. Interestingly, I just read about a newly-listed mass-mailing worm that typically attaches itself as a .CAB file, so I wouldn't be exempting all .CAB files anytime soon.

i saw the microsoft thing, wont work. I dont think the McAfee i have will let you skip a file. Its not in configuration atleast , I looked through everything else and couldnt find anything. It could just be the version i have, its the free one you can get if you have comcast. Does anyone know if this is with all versions of windows? Mine is Windows Xp home sp2 but i was thinking about putting it on my other computer that has 2000.

Sounds more like an issue with the AV than with the OS.

Out of curiosity why do you have the wsusscan.cab file sitting on your XP Home install? Typically I only see that on WSUS/SUS servers. You may be able to safely remove it.

I went to McAfees website and searched the forum. Didnt find anything specific and i didnt have the time to look through a hundred topics. So, i asked the question here figuring one of the many knowledgeable people could help....Anyways, I just let it run (it took awile) and it eventully finished. So i'm not going to worry about it. I was being impatient. Thanks for dealing with me.
