I posted this at another board so here is just a copy and paste. I work for a school district and we are having some difficulties with our main WSUS server, our replica servers seem to be working fine though.

Paste:
We have recently deployed a WSUS server along with 3 replica servers throughout our network. When we setup the Main server it synchronized with Microsoft for a total of about 18 gigs of information.

When we synchronized our replica servers with our main server the replicas only recieved about 850 megs.

We then used the WSUS Server Diagnostics to purge uneeded files, this dropped our main servers c:\WSUS folder where updates are held down to the 850 megs our replicas have recieved.

Then we synchronized our main server with microsoft again today, and it is downloading about 36 files, just over 2 gigs of patches. When it finishes I will run the purge unneeded files to see what it drops down to.

Why is it that our main server is downloading so much information while our replicas only get a fraction of it? And why is it when we purge the system it drops the size of the files on our main server to what our replicas have recieved?

Thanks for any assistance.
