Occasionally when I try to access our WSUS server via HTTP I get the following error:

Windows Server Update Services error
Access denied
Network policy settings prevent you from accessing this Windows Server Update Services server.

If you believe you have received this message in error, please check with your system administrator.

I have an administrator account on the server, but I can't get in. Any suggestions?

You need to use a local administrator account on that server. I used to just login as "administrator" with my admin password. As opposed to a network admin account.

Other than that, try from a different PC in case there is something cached on your end. There isn't much to it, an it sounds to me like you're doing it right.

Also, I assume it's actually prompting you for login username/password. If not, then it's more than likely using some cached credentials.
