WS LCD, whats hot and whats not?

hi all,
i hear a lot of discussion about WS lcds, especially dells, but i usually always ignore it because i have a 22" CRT that i am in love with. well now im going to be living in a dorm i can't have this big TV sized monitor. i'm thinking i want to get a ws lcd and then use it as a TV too so i dont have to have both. Will this work ok?
i'm on a low budget but will fire if the deal is good. what do the 24" WS models usually go for and where is the best place to get them?

2407fpw from dell is pretty popular. I have the 2005fpw (its now the 2007), and its awesome imo.

What is your budget?
 
I am looking into getting one as well. Right now the strong contender is the 2007fpw but I'm concerned about the Dell inconsistent quality issues so I want to know if there's anything from Viewsonic/Samsung/NEC that I should be considering.

The good thing about Dell is their customer service, I doubt any other LCD maker is as good.

They'll send you replacement, after replacement, after replacement.

Bought my 2007FPW nearly two weeks ago, and it was perfect.
No dead pixels, no banding.

Just a bit of the uneven lighting on the four corners, doesn't bother me - but I guess I've grows to expect such problems on all LCDs.
 
i looked on dells website i guess they dont have a 22" i guess a 20" will have to do anyone got any pics for size comparison?

is the 2007FPW a new monitor or what ? i cant find any reviews on it. i want to see nice pics of it.

Gateway 21". I have had one for a few months now and am still loving it for both gaming and HDTV/Movies. Current price: $499.
 
yeah i actually have one of these at work. come to think of it, the gateway looks identical to the samsung as far as hookups / functionality. i wonder if it is the same screen? i think the samsung a bunch better looking chassis though, so ill probably go with that.
