Link for pics and specs. Rumors have the price at ~ 30k.

300 Lbs-ft at 4k WOW!

More importantly what the WRX needed most a six speed tranny.

You could, but I bet that six speed tranny would eat most of that budget right up.

Yeah, that was my first thought at seeing. Headlights are so much better.

This sucks. I was hoping this wouldn't get over here for atleast another year. That is when I was going to buy one. The timing is all wrong, take it back. Now, I am going to have to see these things and pick my jaw up off the ground. :disgust:

Well, the best I could find is a driving impression from TopGearUK here

If it's like the previous WRX STi, it's sub 5 second 0-60, 1/4 mile if driven correctly with good tires (clutch roasting launch) is under 14. Somehow, I don't think we'll be getting DCCD either. Just like Mitsubishi deleted AYC & ACD from the Evolution.

Beautiful, I saw one the other day on I-5 near Hwy 58 somewhere in the middle of California. It was surely fast, but the cop seemed to liked my Maxima more, hence me on side of road while watching it pass me once again.... argggggg..

I was talking to my Subaru dealer a few months ago (September) when I was looking at the WRXs and he was saying it'd be closer to $35,000 for the STi....maybe it'll be cheaper, maybe more, I dunno

no way, i talked to two subaru dealers two weeks ago and both of them said the STi will be sold for around $27-30k, delivery around May. I'll probably buy one next year, gonna wait till all the recall, defect pass first :)
good to know it's coming with 300hp.

The engine is a 2.5 liter, and is EXCLUSIVE to north america. Meaning that the topgear article is about the plain jane 2.0 liter engine.

The guys in japan must be furious, they'll be doing JDM to USDM swaps now :D

I would imagine that a 2.5 liter boxer is smoother than a 2.5 liter inline 4.

boxers means that the cylinders are horizontally opposed to each other, rather than vertically or diagonally. Only Subaru and Porsche use this configuration.
I think boxers engines feel more "stable" at high RPM compared to the other configurations. Driving a WRX at 5K RPM feels like nothing....
