My friend just traded in his riced out Civic Si for a WRX. He's the 3rd one i know BTW. Pretty soon we'll see the Lancer bandwagon. Oh yah, and they start talking about how rallying is so cool even though the only glimpse of rallying they've seen is on the Subaru commercial. Pretty sad if you ask me... its a great car... too bad its only getting noticed because of some fad.

I drove my WRX in a TSD rally over the weekend. I've also driven it in a rally-cross, auto-cross, and racing at a racetrack. It's a fun car!

...Then when the new Z comes out they'll trade the WRX for it, then the new RX8, and so forth...

The WRX wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't so fuggin ugly

Oh I know its a nice car... i've been following Subaru and Mitsubishi in the FIA WRC... although i agree that the previous impreza was a little easier to get used to. Ive been reading UK mags rave about it so I knew people here would like it to. Just didnt expect people who previously thought that their civics were invincible to start patronizing this car and pretending that they're rally fans all of a sudden. LOL.

yeah i understand what you're saying. part of the reason they are selling so well is the whole ricer crowd. i dont think they fully appreciate the car and what it can do, which is a serious dissapointment.

BTW i think it looks pretty sweet!

The '00-present are really fugly lookin'. The round lights suck sooooooooooo hard, it's a shame what they did IMO. The old one's XX-'99 look AWESOME. They are also fun to drive.

Actually it's more like "Show the world that I like to blow all my paycheck on a stupid method of transport without a thing to show for all my years of work" :)

For a mid-$20k car, I would expect a car that can hold a 32oz slurpee, too bad this one cant do it.

But consider the value proposition. 0-60 in 5.8 sec, AWD, sharp handling, Japanese build quality, $25K.

I don't think they are quite so ugly anymore. I'd rather be seen in the "fugging ugly" WRX than the last-generation Eclipse with one of those stock St. Louis arches on the back. Talk about no class. And WRX comes in sedan and wagon only...no boy racer compact coupe variant, yippee! I drive a coupe (Accord), but some versions are just too high-school kiddish: Eclipse, Celica, Neon, Cavalier/Sunfire. At least Honda coupes avoid the total kid look: Integra/RSX, Civic, Prelude, Accord.

:Q Whats wrong with looking like a BoYRaCeR???!!!...lol... to each his own. But there is a difference if you do it right and if you do it like a ricer. ;) Although I would in fact take the WRX over SIs or Type-SHs or Type-Ss... whichever one. But my other friend from San Diego just got a TL Type-S... now that is nice... even if I am a Toyota fan.

I don't think they are fugly, especially the hatchback. The sedan is not so easy on the eyes but it must hug the road like crazy. If only VW would export a 4motion GTi now to compete. The Jetta wagon w/4motion is supposed to be available here in the States eventually. So why is the WRX developing a following again? B/c its a great car maybe? I heard that the interior is cheesey though, but I'd get one if I had the lootcakes. I wonder how they will retain their value and how much a used one will be. There is a dude in my 'hood w/an electric blue WRX hatchback and it looks like a really cool car.
